Like last year the time up at the cottage was great.The kids had fun and the adults even More.Big chief island was nuts,at least 800 boats band and radio station.We took the kids through the lift lock into sparrow lake.

I've been home awhile, but have been busy with unpacking and 'putting away' so I haven't been on the computer yet to write.
We had an incredible weekend at Shangri-la. I don't think the ladies were expecting the cottage to be so spacious and yet cozy, and didn't realize what our proximity to the lake would be. It was such a pleasant surprise for everyone, and we really soaked up 'cottage life'. I don't think they've had an opportunity like this before, or, if they have - not for a very long time. I know the bride-to-be was thrilled and grateful, which was my main goal. She doesn't get opportunities like what we did this weekend very often and she so deserves it.
Again, I want to thank you for the opportunity to spend our weekend away at Shangri-la. We had an incredible time, and we so appreciate it!
Take care, and don't be surprised if you hear from me again. Another time I would love to go back, but with my husband and maybe a couple of other couples for a change. We'll see!

We found Shangrila to have a fabulous ambience, and was very clean. It was first rental ever with good supply of dry firewood. Kindling would have been good - especially for ladies who don't usually chop wood!

Dear Garson, We had a wonderful weekend! Of course mother nature co-operated but the cottage is perfect- a real cottage ( rather than a "house" on the lake ) but with all the conveniences. Had it been rainy we would have enjoyed the videos , books and games that are there. The lakeview is stunning and the decks and dock -pedalboat , canoe and lovely gazebo meant we had a lot of space for our family. We also enjoyed Orillia - a delightful little town . Hi Garson – We had a wonderful time at Shangri-la and hate to leave – the weather was windy and cool but we were okay with that. Took out the paddle boat and the canoe a couple of times and even used the patio table on the deck which we don’t normally use as I LOVE the gazebo and try to eat there when weather permits. We’re trying to figure out when our next visit is, so I’ll contact you when we have some dates.

Just wanted to let you know that we had a really fun week at your cottage. For the second year in a row, we were not disappointed. The weather was very co-operative. Our two and a half year old granddaughter really enjoyed the water. Because it is so shallow near the dock , it kept her amused for hours.

Just wanted to tell you how much our 2 families enjoyed our Shangri-La weekend. The cottage had such a homey feeling and had everything imaginable available for us there. We've definitely felt spoiled. Our fishermen filled their fish baskets each day with perch and a trophy size bass - we had a great fish fry 1 afternoon. Our Thanksgiving turkey (which we christened 'Shangri-La') roasted all day while we played outdoor games.

Everything was absolutely PERFECT. The girls and I had a great time and they were very impressed with your place.
I also wanted to tell you how WONDERFUL it was to have Dave and Dawn cook and serve us. They were just top notch and I would highly recommend them to anyone. We could not have asked for more. The meal was 5 star and Dave and Dawn were very friendly and accommodating. Everyone agreed that the dinner was the absolute highlight of our weekend. Delicious food and no cooking or clean up - just what the doctor ordered for this large group of moms.
We will definitely be back and home Dawn and Dave will cook for us again too.

Garson...The weekend was fantastic, very nice place and the ski-dooing was good too but we experienced a day and a half of rain so that put a bit of a damper on that, all and all though we had a great get-away and I would be interested to know what is available for the summer months for my family. Bravo! Another great year at Shangrila. This is our third winter that we’ve come up with our family for a February long weekend and another fantastic time was had by all. We love the renovations. The new 2nd bathroom is huge and the new heaters kept us warm when it was freezing outside. It always amazes me how quiet and removed your place seems, when it is so easy to access the highway and everything else you might need. Hats off again for how clean and orderly the cottage was when we arrived. The heat was on, firewood was stacked and the hot water was flowing. I hope we didn’t leave you too much of a mess! Looking forward already to next winter. By the way, the skiing was great at Mount St. Louis this year too. Thanks again and we’ll speak to you in the fall.

Hey Garson!
Just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful week at your
cottage. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and the
highlight of the week was the dishwasher (LOL). Now that's a
vacation!.
The location was great and we rented a small boat for the first day.
Your neighbours are very nice, Noreen especially, she was very kind
and if we needed any info we asked her.
The fishing is great in the lake, the Walleye and large mouth Bass
are plentiful. We have no hesitation to rent your cottage
again. It was extremely clean when we arrived and the fridge
was spotless as well as the stove. The bathrooms were perfect.
Cleanliness is extremely important to us--we are extremely fussy about
this).
Your water cooler was an added bonus..that was great! Also,
there was not one gadget that your kitchen doesn't have. You
must have been watching Martha Stewart in order to know what to have
stocked in a kitchen - ha ha!
The view from the dock and the deck was spectacular. We were
very considerate of your neighbours and thoroughly enjoyed both of
the outdoor fire places. But the piece to resistance was the
gazebo. No bugs! (Hooray!).
We have no hesitation to rent your cottage again, and would
recommend it to any of our friends.

P.S. Our matriarch mother (74 years young), said time and time
again what a lovey cottage and location you have. She really
enjoyed herself and loved everything (THANK GOD - It could have been
a long 7 days. By the way, she was warm enough!!!)

Hi Garson. Thanks for the follow up. Yes, it was ideal for us. It's often difficult to tell from photos alone but I'd have to say it was even better than what we had hoped for. The water was perfect, fishing was good just north of the cottage and the weather man was on our side. The gazebo was a huge hit at night when the bugs came out. We had a most wonderful week. We spent a lot of time on
the deck since it served as a great little safe coral for
the 2 little girls. Lori caught a 30" pike which was
released to be caught again and Scott and Kevin had
several close calls at getting bass into the boat. At
least they know there are fish there. It was a wonderful
family experience.
I must comment on the cleanliness of the cottage. You are
very fortunate to have such wonderful cleaners.

Good Evening: We all had a great time at Shangrila - the girls really enjoyed being on the lake - the weather was wonderful - we enjoyed each of the golf courses even though on Sunday it was very hot out there - but we still made it through. The girls who slept on the pull out said it was very comfortable and they slept great. Not sure if it was the bed -the fresh air or that we were all tired by the time we got to bed. We did meet one of your neighbours and they seemed really nice. Anyhow we did really enjoy the cottage - and I hope that everything was okay with you with the way we left it. ... thank you for everything
...Glad everything was okay at the cottage - the girls have all emailed and said what a great time they had - and how much they enjoyed the area and the weather and the golf and of course getting together like that so we keep in touch with everybody since four of us have moved away. Anyhow hope you have a great summer - if the weather is any indication of the rest of the summer - it will be a great one and they will be glad they are at a cottage on the lake.

Hello! I thought I'd send you a couple of comments from our weekend at your cottage. Overall we had a wonderful time. Despite the wet and coolish weather we still managed to spend time outdoors doing our normal golfing, fishing and just relaxing. The cottage worked well for us and we enjoyed the fireplace, the comfortable furniture, movies and woodwork. We found the gazebo a popular spot when the bugs came calling and the outdoor firepit got some good use as well.

Marilyn is a real gem - she came and refilled the propane tanks mid-week and arrived promptly at 11am on Friday with a small crew of women to start cleaning. They were very friendly and responsible. The place was SPOTLESS when we arrived and I understood why when I saw them cleaning - when we left they were vacuuming the screen porch with a vengeance while they waited for us to move our bags from the cottage. Dear Garson: Hope this finds you well. I am just writing to thank you On behalf of myself and my family for the wonderful week we spent at Shangri La. It is not easy finding accommodations to suit our large group. My youngest grandson is three and my mother in law is 83. We also had four teenagers to entertain. We could have not found a more perfect spot. Your home away from home combined cottage and luxury. The gazebo was a godsend for extra dining, card playing and relaxing. The lake was crystal clear. Your wide selection of videos and DVD reminded the kids of a mini Blockbuster. We used both the indoor and the outdoor fireplaces. There was not one thing you did not provide for us. Downtown Orillia is quite the town. We used the handy shuttle to the casino, but we also drove the first time we went there. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you again.

...Our weekend at your cottage was wonderful. Only 6 girls went, and not one of us had any complaints. It is very easy to find off of the highway and everyone who was coming from all different directions had no problem at all. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and had lots of R&R. Spent one evening just watching some of your movies, which we thought you had an excellent choice of.
